Believe it or not, white vinegar has more power than you think. Not only can it bring a scrunch to your face, but it can also be used to clean a lot of tough grime. Unleash the power of vinegar cleaning with these tips by The Carpet Guys.
1.) Scissor Cleaner – For all the crafty people out there, you most likely understand the annoyance of sticky scissors. By using vinegar, you can get the grime off without rusting the metal.
2.) Sticker Residue Removal – Almost every item bought in a store has a sticker on it. The residue left after tearing it off is quite bothersome. First, put some white vinegar on the sticker and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, wipe it away.
So many options for cleaning with white vinegar
3.) Appliance Cleaner – Vinegar can clean some tough grime stuck on your household appliances such as coffee pots and dishwashers. Add a cup of vinegar to the appliance (as long as it uses water), let it cycle, and in no time, the appliance will be shining.
4.) Microwave Cleaner – With this little trick, cleaning a microwave will never be the same. First, add equal parts of white vinegar and water into a bowl and let it heat up for four minutes. Next, remove the bowl carefully and wipe away the condensation created by the steam. The steam will clean any kind of mess in your microwave.
5.) Fabric and Flooring Cleaner – By creating a spray consisting of vinegar and water, lightly misting your fabrics and flooring can remove any kind of odor stuck in it. Be sure to consult your local flooring dealer before you spray your new carpeting (this may void your warranty).
6.) Clean your Bathroom Tools – Just because items like loofahs and razors are typically used in the shower does not mean that the water cleans them. They need some sprucing up too. After several uses, fill your sink with equal parts of water and vinegar, give the items a good soaking, and all the body oils and odors will be gone.
7.) Defrost your Car Windows – Living in Michigan, we all know how difficult (and stressful) it can be scraping ice off the windshield. Before the next nasty storm hits, mist a solution of three parts vinegar to one part water on the windows. Since vinegar is acidic, it keeps the frost off windows. Make life a little easier for yourself in the winter.
8.) Laundry Treatment – Before you start your wash, add a half cup of white vinegar in the mix. It removes static from the clothing and repels lint. It also can brighten the colors and deodorize your clothes. Say goodbye to dryer sheets and fabric softener.
Behold – The cleaning power of vinegar
9.) Hand Odors – For all you chefs out there, remove the odors from your hands after cooking by giving them a quick rinse in some white vinegar. Rinse afterward and bam, clean hands.
10.) Cutting Board Cleaner – After using a wooden cutting board, wipe it down with a rag and white vinegar. You can remove any bacteria leftover with this method.
Make sure to remember that you should never mix ammonia (or bleach) and vinegar unless you have plans of visiting a hospital. Because of its acidic nature, never use vinegar on any stone surfaces. Only use white vinegar for cleaning. Other types of vinegar may cause damage to items, and some should only be used for cooking.
