As flooding from Hurricane Harvey is sweeping through the city of Houston and the surrounding areas, many of you may be wondering how we can all help out.
It may seem like you can’t do much living in Michigan, but there are ways we can band together and lighten the load for the victims of the hurricane.
Below is a video of what The Carpet Guys are doing:
We will be donating $50,000 dollars worth of carpet in hopes that people suffering from Hurricane Harvey will be able to get back into their homes quicker. It may not seem like much given the circumstances, but thousands of charitable acts joined together can make a difference.
Charitable Organizations
We have also listed a few organizations that you can get involved with to help out. Take a look at them and see which organization fits you best.
National VOAD (National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster): A community and faith-based association of different national and state disaster relief organizations. They provide links to groups assisting victims of storm disasters and donation opportunities.
American Red Cross: With many shelters set up along the Gulf Coast region, almost 1,000 volunteers from various parts of the country are ready to help. They will be providing victims with essentials such as blankets, cots, and meals. Visit their website, call 800-RED-CROSS, or text HARVEY to 90999 to give $10 in support.
GoFundMe: The platform has devoted a page to raise funds and assistance for the Hurrican Harvey victims. You can find the page and make a donation here.
Salvation Army: Many trained disaster staff and many volunteers have been sent over to Texas with food, water, and comfort kits. You can find more ways to give on the website.
Feeding Texas: Every dollar that is donated to Feeding Texas will be used to provide the essentials needed by those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
SPCA of Texas: Dedicated to caring for animals and people who have evacuated, they have set up a temporary shelter in Dallas to help evacuees. Check out their Amazon wish list to see what they are in need of.
Our love and support go out to everyone who has been hit by Hurricane Harvey, as well as those who are doing everything they can to help.
Houston, our hearts are with you, and we will do what we can to help.
